Arriving in the fall of 1988 in Beijing, China, working for the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel was the first overseas posting for Anna after leaving the United States and Aptos, California (Rio Del Mar).
As the Public Relations and Advertising Manager for the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel, this gave her an opportunity to be in charge of public relations for a 5-Star international hotel property and to be working side-by-side with members of the Communist Party.

As the Public Relations Manager, it was also her responsibility to welcome VIPs to the hotel such as American actor Charlton Heston, Vice President George Bush Sr., US Secretary of State James Baker, and CBS News Anchor Dan Rather, amongst others.
She was also in charge of the Foreign

its base at the Great Wall Sheraton Hotel. She worked
with the Sales Department in visiting many of the consulates
in Beijing to promote the services of the hotel. She
was also part of the team for the Great Wall Sheraton's
International Incentive Tour which selected 12 tour
representatives out of a few hundred from around the
world to experience a special "White Gloves Tour
of China".
She introduced direct mail to the expatriates of Beijing in order to promote the food and beverage promotions. The Great Wall Sheraton Hotel was an innovator of events and one of the programs was an outside catering staged at the Ming Tombs for the Young Presidents' Organisation (YPO). |
