
Born in Hong Kong, Ms Catherine Kwai is the founder of the Kwai Fung Culture and Communications Co. Ltd. Prior to beginning started her art business, Ms Kwai worked with international banks and insurance companies for many years. With an enduring passion for art and experience in collecting, she decided to turn her passion into a successful international business venture. In 1992, she resigned from the financial services industry and established the first company of the Kwai Fung Art Group - Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery, which has focused on the introduction of European artists specializing in oil paintings and sculptures to Hong Kong.
In 1996, after the establishment of the Gallery, Ms Kwai founded Kwai Fung Art Consultants. The business is involved in working with multi-national corporations in the planning and selection of art collections, as well as the application of art installations in banks, hotels and commercial buildings. Throughout the years, Kwai Fung Hin Art Consulting has assisted numerous international banks, hotels, corporate institutions in corporate collection consulting.
In 2000, Ms Kwai established the Kwai Po Collection. The Kwai Po Collection uses the French lithography technique used through many generations in the production and publication of prints. The prints are from internationally renowned contemporary Chinese painters such as Wu Guang Zhong, Zhang Xiao Guang, Wang Guang Yi and Yang Shao Bin.
In more than a decade, the Kwai Fung Hin Art Group has introduced numerous modern European artists to Hong Kong and to mainland China. Catherine has broadened the horizon of the local art scene and promoted a cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world in promoting Chinese Contemporary artists.
Over the years, Kwai herself has also supported numerous international art activities, tirelessly promoting cultural exchange. She has been the curator of a number of influential art exhibitions, including the exhibition of Italian master Amedeo Modigliani's "Linear Grace - Drawings and Sculptures" at the University of Hong Kong's Museum and Art Gallery; the "40 Years Retrospective Exhibition" of French master Bernard Cathelin at the Shanghai Art Museum, and the Touring Exhibition "Brilliant Tranquility - Szeto Lap" at the National Art Museum of China, Shanghai Art Museum, China Academy of Art Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, and the University of Hong Kong Museum and Art Gallery.
Anna has helped to profile her in various business and international publications. In June 2007 she assisted in the publicity for "What's Next?" - an exhibition of 22 Chinese Contemporary Artists from the mainland.
